Join us as we revolutionize kidney care and other vital organ support.*Completion of the proposed separation of Kidney Care from Baxter into a standalone company (to be named Vantive) remains subject to the satisfaction of customary conditions.Your RoleAs a Senior Technologist of Exploratory and Innovation, you will lead and contribute to the identification and early-stage development of new novel approaches to the treatment of kidney disease. In this role, you will play a key role in supporting the design, development, and testing of complex electromechanical systems for medical applications, including the creation of test rigs, test measurement systems, and execution of comprehensive testing and analysis activities.What you'll be doing

  • Test System Development: Design, build, and maintain test rigs and fixtures for evaluating electromechanical and sensing systems, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and reliability of test setups.
  • Test Measurement Systems: Develop and implement test measurement systems, including sensors, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and control systems, to collect and analyze performance data.
  • Testing and Analysis: Execute complex testing protocols and procedures to evaluate the performance, functionality, and reliability of electromechanical and sensing systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze test data using appropriate tools and techniques, including statistical analysis, signal processing, and data visualization, to draw meaningful conclusions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues and anomalies during testing and provide recommendations for resolution, working closely with engineering teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of test procedures, results, observations, and recommendations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  • Calibration and Maintenance: Perform calibration, maintenance, and repair of test equipment and instrumentation to ensure accuracy and reliability of test measurements.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and other technical contributors to support product development activities, provide technical expertise, and contribute to the achievement of project milestones and objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing processes, methodologies, and capabilities, driving efficiency, quality, and innovation.
  • Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.What you'll bring
    • Associate degree or equivalent technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a technical role specializing in electromechanical and sensing systems, preferably in the medical device or healthcare industry.
    • Experience with computer-aided design software such as Creo and/or Solid Works, and translating these designs into physical prototypes leveraging traditional machining and rapid prototyping.
    • Proficiency in the design, assembly, and operation of electromechanical test rigs and measurement systems.
    • Strong hands-on experience with instrumentation, data acquisition systems, sensors, actuators, and control systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to execute complex testing protocols and analyze test data using relevant software tools (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python).
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
    • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards for medical devices (e.g., FDA, ISO) preferred.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $72,000 to $99,000 plus an annual incentive bonus and equity target. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position.
