Job Description Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Dentist is
responsible for delivering comprehensive dental care, including the
diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases, pediatric dentistry,
prosthodontics, operative dentistry, oral surgery, and endodontics.
This individual ensures high-quality, patient-centered care in
alignment with clinical standards and regulatory requirements. The
Dentist collaborates with multidisciplinary care teams to support
overall patient health, engages in patient education to promote
oral hygiene, and contributes to quality improvement initiatives
within the dental department. Additionally, this role participates
in special projects and outreach efforts that support
organizational goals and expand access to dental services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs comprehensive oral evaluations
utilizing diagnostic tools such as radiographs, periodontal
charting, and dental impressions to assess patients’ oral health.
Accurately documents and charts extraoral and intraoral findings,
including hard and soft tissue conditions, in accordance with
clinical protocols. Delivers comprehensive dental care to patients
of all ages, including those who are medically complex or pregnant,
while adhering to evidence-based clinical standards. Develops,
discusses, and confirms individualized treatment plans with
patients to ensure informed decision-making and optimal outcomes.
Conducts oral surgical procedures such as tooth extractions and
root canals, and performs operative dentistry including caries
removal, tooth preparation, and material placement. Restores
decayed or damaged teeth through the placement of restorations,
crowns, and fixed partial dentures in alignment with approved
treatment plans. Diagnoses and treats oral pathological conditions,
prescribes appropriate medications, administers local anesthesia,
and obtains dental radiographs to support clinical care. Designs
and fabricates dental appliances including dentures, partials,
minor orthodontic appliances, crowns, and inlays to support
functional and esthetic needs. Provides patient education on oral
hygiene, disease prevention, and post-treatment care to support
long-term oral health. Completes accurate and timely documentation
of all clinical procedures to maintain compliance with dental
record-keeping standards. Supports team development by training
staff in clinical applications and dental protocols to ensure a
knowledgeable and competent workforce. Provides urgent care and
emergency dental treatment to manage pain and stabilize oral health
conditions. Delivers care in accordance with organizational
policies, procedures, and clinical protocols to maintain regulatory
and quality compliance. Serves as a clinical leader and mentor
within the dental team, fostering a positive work environment and
supporting departmental and organizational change initiatives.
Collaborates with medical and behavioral health providers to ensure
coordinated and comprehensive patient care. Supervises and mentor’s
dental student externs, providing guidance and oversight in
delivering patient care and developing clinical competencies.
Maintains strict adherence to scheduled work hours with regular and
reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental
Medicine (DMD) degree. Preferred previous experience in a clinical
dental setting. CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES Must hold or be eligible
to obtain and maintain a valid, unrestricted license to practice
dentistry in the State of Wisconsin and DEA license. Basic Life
Support (BLS) certification at time of hire, or within three months
of employment. Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required with an
acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR), per FHC guidelines. Equal
